Alleged Bed Bug Infestation Prompts Hudson Valley Couple To Sue Disney

A Hudson Valley couple who were bitten by bed bugs at a Vero Beach, Fla., Disney Vacation resort is suing the company for a ruined vacation and physical and emotional distress, said the Poughkeepsie Journal.

According to a lawsuit, filed in June, Allyson L. Masciotti-Hamedl and Kevin Hamedl, of Poughquag in Dutchess County, claim Disney failed to “exercise reasonable care and breached its duty” to properly operate the popular resort, said the Journal. 

The couple is asking for damages of between $100,000 and $1 million, for the September 2016 stay, the Journal added.

In the complaint, the Journal reports that Masciotti-Hamedl woke up to “bugs crawling all over the bed, linens, and surrounding walls of her room.”

The Journal reported Masciotti-Hamedl claims she missed time from work because of the bites. suffered emotional distress and had to seek psychiatric treatment.
