Its not often you work with an oil company whose employees are on a first-name basis with their clients, but thats just how local New Rochelles A&N Heating Oil is to its community.
They're not only a part of Westchester, they also care about its residents: CEO Jason Costa says thats because he doesnt want his customers to feel like just a number, as they sometimes do when working with larger corporations.
You always work with a live person when you call us and were a full-service company thats very competitive with pricing, said the New Rochelle resident.
A&N Heating Oil services nearby Westchester towns including Bronxville, Eastchester, Larchmont, Mamaroneck and Pelham. Costa and his team are able to stand behind a safe and efficient product they trust, promoting that oil heat is non-carcinogenic, biodegradable and has a greener future than gas.
As for his role in the company, Costa says he wears multiple hats as its CEO. Along with handling accounts, marketing and sales, he stays abreast of all aspects of his business by making home deliveries and overseeing jobs from time to time.
In a close-knit community like Westchester though, he understands that friendly referrals are a powerful tool to generate new business.
The best marketing is through word of mouth, he said. It could mean a neighbor of mine using my company and knowing someone in Mamaroneck who needs service.
Costa believes that taking part in the local business community also means giving back to those who need it. For instance, A&N Heating Oil began a partnership with The Solomon Katz Breast Center at Sound Shore Medical Center last year. They help raise awareness of breast cancer by donating a penny for each distributed gallon from the companys Pink Truck.
We heard from customers that are either battling or recovering from the disease and we thought it would be another way to give back to the community, Costa said of the Pink Truck.
