BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- The Rev. Derek Lecakes visited The Chapel School and spoke at both the lower and middle school assemblies on Wednesday.
Lecakes was recently elected bishop and president of the Atlantic District.
He was elected in June and had previously served as vice president for five years.
He was to be officially installed on Saturday during a ceremony at Concordia College.
He was there to discuss his experience working with a survivor of Hurricane Irene. The bishop also visted Village Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Robert Hartwell, senior pastor said, “Bishop Lecakes has been an active volunteer leader in disaster response, including Hurricane Katrina. His comments to our students on servant leadership speak directly to our commitment to service learning and desiring to share the love of Christ."
Village Lutheran Church and The Chapel School are at 172 White Plains Road.
