Lupo, a Pleasantville High School senior, who starred on the Pleasantville Panthers basketball team, was found dead Wednesday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Lieb set up a GoFundMe to raise money for the Lupo family.  In four days, 457 people have donated $51,000. The initial goal was to raise $10,000 to cover funeral expenses.

"The response has been overwhelming," Lieb said. "We knew we lived in a tight-knit loving community."

The money raised will help the family pay for the funeral. A scholarship fund, a memorial in Lupo's name, and also assistance to help cover college tuition and related costs for Quentin’s younger brother, Justin, are also being discussed.

The idea for the GoFundMe, came from Lieb's son, Jaden, who was very close to Lupo, his next door neighbor. The Liebs had known Lupo since he was eight

"He was like a father figure to my sons," Lieb said, fighting back tears. "We were very close. He was a next door neighbor, a babysitter, he was a mentor. He was like a third son. He spent a lot of time at our house, we had such a great relationship."

Lieb said Lupo was always passionate about basketball.

"He was such a revelation this year," Lieb said. "He was a team leader."

Lupo was a leader both on and off the court, Lieb said. He would play basketball with anyone, Lieb said.

"He touched so many kids lives," Lieb said. "He showed everyone the same love and attention. That's what makes it so hard."

Lieb said he has been touched by the outpouring of support from the Pleasantville community.

"This has been so hard for everyone right now," Lieb said. "We have to continue to support the family and get through this.  Pleasantville is such a tight community. There's this real camaraderie. We are so grateful for everyone's support."
