This weekend, officials from both organizations will be in the parking lot at Parker Elementary School to host a Kraft Mobile Food Pantry distribution event for families in need of local assistance.

The Junior League’s Mobile Food Pantry program is working in tandem with the Westchester Kraft Mobile Food Pantry to “provide groceries to families throughout the Mount Vernon community in need of assistance.”

Culinary options that will be available on Saturday include various healthy food options, including fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy products and meats.

“The Junior League of Bronxville, in partnership with the Food Bank for Westchester, is pleased to bring the Mobile Food Pantry to the Mount Vernon community,” Junior League President Erica Sevilla said. “Our efforts to alleviate hunger and improve nutrition in southern Westchester have been greatly increased through our Mobile Food Pantry distributions.”

Adriane Saunders, the Chairwoman for the school district’s Wellness Committee said that the Junior League is providing Mount Vernon families a rare opportunity to make sure they receive all the help they may potentially need.

“This is an opportunity for our school district and Junior League to join forces to help eliminate hunger in our community,” she said. “All too often, our neighbors may not have the means to feed their family and may not know where to turn for help. This is our chance to say there is help out there. We are here for you.”

The Mobile Food Pantry will be open from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Parker Elementary School parking lot. To ensure enough groceries, event organizers are asking those wishing to participate to pre-register here or by contacting District Clerk Rick McCormack at (914) 655-5235.
