Junior League Exceeds Goal with Eastchester Gala

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – The Scarsdale-based Junior League of Central Westchester's 65th Anniversary Gala fundraiser "far exceeded our goal," event co-Chair Leslie Chang said Tuesday.

"The official number for amount raised is $65,000," Chang said, but that is a preliminary figure. "We still have incoming photography sales, and we won't have a final number for some weeks."

Chang did not disclose the original goal.

The event, held March 16 at Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester, celebrated the JLCW's growth over 65 years and the organization's commitment to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers, according to a news release. The proceeds will provide essential financial support for the Junior League's educational and charitable projects.

Master of Ceremonies Brian Conybeare, anchor for News 12 Westchester, led an awards program for the evening's honorees. Susan Wayne, president and CEO of Family Services of Westchester, was on hand to accept Family Service's Community Partner Award for its partnership with the JLCW. Assembly member Amy Paulin presented the Distinguished Sustainer Award to JLCW member and Scarsdale resident Lynne Clark , who received a standing ovation for her "commitment to serving the community through the Junior League and beyond," the release said.

"Our 65th Anniversary Gala greatly exceeded our expectations and we are so grateful to our community for the outpouring of generosity and support of our organization," said Lynn Marvin, president of Junior League of Central Westchester, according to the news release. "We are proud that this year's gala will increase our ability to promote the literacy, health and welfare of children and families in the JLCW service areas of White Plains, Greenburgh, Eastchester and Scarsdale."
