Throughout the evening on Saturday, April 25, 100 guests were treated to tapas and sangria, while raising more than $16,500 to support the league’s work with the Food Bank of Westchester’s Kraft Mobile Food Pantry.

“It was thrilling to have such fantastic support from our JLB membership and the broader community. We were especially appreciative of all the local businesses that contributed to our ‘Best of Bronxville & Beyond’ themed raffle baskets,” said Michelle Schoulder, chair of the fundraiser.

One highlight of the evening was the friendly cook-off that took place between two JLB teams, led by past presidents. Team Andrea Bates (’07-’08), assisted by Tammy Cushman (Sustainer) vs. Jonalie Korengold (’12-’13), assisted by Amy Korb (’13-’14) helped drive home the food-focused JLB vision of Stamping Out Hunger in Southern Westchester.

The Junior League of Bronxville, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

As part of the evening, the JLB honored the Food Bank for Westchester as its Community Partner of the Year and were pleased to have Ellen Lynch, president and chief executive officer, present to accept the award as she reminded attendees that one in five in the population is hungry or at risk of hunger.

The JLB sponsors one Kraft Mobile Food Pantry every month, which through JLB volunteers provides fresh food via a 36-foot refrigerated truck that serves as a “market on wheels,” bringing fresh meat, dairy products, and fresh vegetables to under-served communities.
