Next week, at the annual Immaculate Conception Walk-a-Thon, students will walk from their campus on Winter Hill Road down to Depot Square as part of one of the school’s biggest fundraisers of the year.
On Friday, Oct. 28, following a blessing from Immaculate Conception clergy, students in Grades 1 through 8 will be joined by parents, faculty and clergy during the walkathon. Starting between 10:30 and 11 a.m., participants will walk from the school to Depot Square, before returning to the grounds for Spirit Day activities at noon.
After the older students finish their walk, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes will have one of their own, around the 11-acre school grounds.
Following the Walk-a-Thon, there will be a picnic lunch and field day activities for participants.
According to the officials that organized the Walk-a-Thon, the effort of the Immaculate Conception Home and School Association “aims to support the academic excellence of the elementary school; foster Catholic Christian values; maintain a community founded on respect and facilitate communication.”
