Nick Biagioni has kicked off a fundraising activity that will allow the community to support charitable foundations named in honor of Nicholas DePippo, 23, and John Crimmins, 22. The event will allow participants to raise money while promoting improved health habits.

Biagioni has announced the Nicholas DePippo and John Crimmins Memorial Fundraiser / Health Challenge, a 99-day interactive event promoting healthy living while supporting a good cause to benefit the families and friends who were affected by the tragic losses.

Individuals looking to participate in the challenge can do so by getting sponsors to back their weight loss efforts. Sponsors can choose to pledge money for each pound lost, or make a flat, tax-deductible donation to the cause. There is a minimum weight loss of five pounds and maximum of 30 pounds lost.

The goal of the Challenge is to raise at least $10,000, with proceeds being divided between the Nicholas A. DePippo Athletic Scholarship Fund and the John Crimmins Foundation, which supports seizure disorder research. Just weeks into the event, more than 10 percent of that goal has already been raised.

Those looking to participate can do so here; potential sponsors can sign up here. The Challenge will end on Saturday, April 16.

Biagioni said that the idea for the Challenge came about when he was looking to help his community heal from the losses while simultaneously meeting a healthy weight goal.

“I wanted to find an innovative way to raise money, so I am beginning a weight loss challenge that urges individuals to commit to getting healthy and fit, while remembering both of these special young men,” he said. “(He) said he hopes to get back to his ideal weight of 199 pounds, his weight as an eighth grade student, when he attended Eastchester Middle School.”
