Former Bronxville Police Sergeant Dies at 67

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Robert Dennis Maleski, a Roosevelt High School alumnis and former sergeant, died on Sept. 25 at age 67, after a long battle with pancreatitis.

Maleski was born in Detroit on June 28, 1944 to Alexander and Geraldine Maleski. He spent most of his teenage and all of his adult life in Yonkers and Bronxville. Maleski graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, where he played varsity sports.

He went on to work as a Sergeant for the Bronxville Police Department until his retirement. Maleski made the most of his retirement years, visiting with friends, vacationing with his sister and her family in Cape Cod and Maine, and as a valued transportation assistant to a local family. He enjoyed football -- an avid Syracuse University fan, cars and animals.

Maleski is survived by his mother, his sister, Janet, and her husband, Frank Getchell, and two nieces, Amy Getchell and Jill Getchell.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Asbury Crestwood United Methodist Church in Tuckahoe.
