BRONXVILLE, N.Y. Matilda Rossi, of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and a former resident of Bronxville, died on Nov. 5. She was 99.
A former bookkeeper, Rossi lived in Bronxville from 1978 until last March. She became active in the Eastchester Senior Citizens after her retirement, where she'd participate in volunteer activities in Eastchester and Bronxville.
Rossi, known as "Tillie" to her family and "Mattie" to her friends, was born in Brooklyn. There, she married and raised her daughters.
She is survived by her daughters Elaine Rossi and Janet Maffucci with her husband Joseph, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Rossi was predeceased by her husband Charles and four siblings.
Visiting hours will be held at Pelham Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church in Bronxville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
