BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – When Emma Florek began working at Bronxville Village Hall as a high school senior in 2009, she had no idea she would serve her hometown all the way through college.
Over the weekend, the village said goodbye to Florek, a 2009 Bronxville High School graduate and member of the University of Richmond class of 2013. She will teach middle school in Virginia this fall.
During her time working at Village Hall, Florek worked in the Parking Department and in court administration. She handled permits, drafted manuals and was in charge of staff training.
Village Trustee Anne Poorman said that Florek worked at Village Hall during school vacations and over the summer, “pinch hitting” for any department that required her help.
“Emma exceeded all expectations and became an invaluable asset to smooth functioning of Village Hall during a time of budget cuts,” she said. “She was innovative, efficient and always upbeat.”
