Vicar Mayer entered an on air contest to serve at the soup kitchen alongside Scott & Kelli of KLove radio and six other contest winners.

The group volunteered at “God’s Love We Deliver” for three hours. The day started with an information session about the organization and a video on kitchen safety.

"The mission of God's Love We Deliver is to improve the health and well-being of men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition,” a spokesperson for the organization said in a statement.

While there they wrapped hundreds of fresh rolls and helped package high quality meals. The meals were then delivered to people, who due to illness are unable to provide or prepare a meal for themselves. The meals lessen the burden for those who are suffering with everything from HIV to terminal cancer.

“I was amazed to learn how many meals are delivered each day,” Mayer added in the statement.

The organization also provides illness-specific nutrition education and counseling to their clients. All of the services are provided by the organization free of charge.

According to their website, over twelve million meals of “God’s Love” have been delivered. “God’s Love We Deliver” is a non-sectarian organization that is assisted by nearly 8,000 volunteers each year.
