The seven young people, in grades three to eight, worked together to wash about 30 cars. There was no set price for the service. Donations were collected for each wash.
The group was able to raise more than $700.
“Wow, look at all these cars,” exclaimed one youth. “We did pretty good. … That one is so shiny now,” stated another.
“The carwash was held in order to raise funds for our trip to New Orleans for the National Youth Gathering of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod,” said the Rev. Scott Geminn, associate pastor of Village Lutheran Church.
The youth gathering has been held every three years since 1980. It provides an opportunity for thousands of youths and adults to gather as a community of God, according to a release from Village Lutheran Church
According to the church's website, “During the five days of the gathering, youth spend time together in God’s word, worship, service and fellowship with others from across the synod.”
