BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Bronxville High School senior Caroline Schetlick sang with the alto section of the South American Repertoire Honor Choir at the 2016 American Choral Directors Association Eastern Division Conference, held Feb. 10-13 in Boston.

The performance took place at Jordan Hall, the principal performance space of the New England Conservatory, and included seven pieces in Portuguese, Spanish, Creole and Quechuan.

This was Schetlick's 11th honor choir concert, capping a distinguished Bronxville School career in vocal music that includes selection for Elementary All-County, Intermediate All-County, Area All-State, All-State twice and All-National choirs, as well as the National Women's Choir of the Organization of American Kodály Educators.

"It has been such a pleasure to nurture Caroline's exceptional musical talent over the past seven years," said Bronxville School Choral Director Pamela Simpson. "Caroline is a dream student. Her comprehensive musicianship allows me to have her work with other students in leading sectionals, mentoring others with sight-reading and accompanying students on the piano.

"She accepts any challenge and takes advantage of every choral opportunity that comes her way. Caroline has been accepted into every honor choir for which she has auditioned. I have no doubt that she will be conducting her own choral groups before too long."

At Bronxville School, Schetlick has graced the stage in eight different shows. Most recently, she portrayed Fantine in the high school's spring production of "Les Misérables." She was presented with Bronxville High School's 2015 Wendy Ruhm Memorial Award for excellence in theater arts.

A classically trained pianist, Schetlick has studied at the Hoff-Barthelson Music School in Scarsdale since 2001, pursuing studies in piano, voice, music theory and musicianship. She is also a voice student of Edward Reisert and a member of the Kirksingers of the Reformed Church of Bronxville. She plans to continue her music studies in college.

The American Choral Directors Association is a music education organization of more than 18,000 members who conduct more than one million singers in schools, churches and communities around the nation.
