Nancy Pasquale's son, Aidan, is a current Hoff-Barthelson student and has been involved in the school for more than a decade. Having joined the school when he was just 9-years-old, Aidan is entering his senior year of high school. For Pasquale, she's seen firsthand how the school has shaped her son into an accomplished musician. “It really comes down to three things: the caliber of the program and it’s teachers, the breadth of opportunities and the sense of community,” she said.

Hoff-Barthelson students receive not only private weekly lessons, but also take part in musicianship classes, ensemble instruction and numerous performance and practice opportunities. “The number of course offerings and performance opportunities at HBMS is unparalleled," said Pasquale. "Over the years, Aidan has taken advantage of essentially every opportunity available to him. He has had access to offerings that, for many musicians, don't happen outside of a conservatory experience.”

Students at Hoff-Barthelson have the opportunity to learn from a faculty comprised of some of the nation’s most distinguished performers and educators. Many teachers either hold chairs in New York orchestras, are members of chamber ensembles or perform in major Broadway productions. "At Hoff-Barthelson we value the importance of each individual and their unique voice," said Oldrich Teply, a Hoff Barthelson piano teacher. "Our goal as teachers is to give each of our students the tools and the opportunities to discover and express that voice to the best of their abilities. The dedication and the conviction of our teachers is what makes Hoff-Barthelson Music School the very special place that it is."

In addition to world class teachers and curriculum, students form life-long bonds for years to come. "The bonds of friendship and camaraderie are palpable, and carry with many students long after they leave the school," said Pasquale. "Hoff Barthelson Music School changed my son's life. He wouldn't be the person or the musician he is today had he not ended up at this place, with these incredible people to guide him.”
