At 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 and 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, women from Eastchester, Greenburgh, Scarsdale and White Plains dedicated to promoting volunteer work are invited to attend the semi-annual recruiting events.

Women of all races, religions and nationalities who are devoted to helping others are invited to become members.

“The JLCW is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers,” according to media relations coordinator Hope R. Bove.

At the informational sessions, current members will inform prospects of the JLCW’s efforts to improve the lives of the less fortunate, as well as the activities that help support these initiatives.

“Joining the JLCW provides opportunities for volunteers to impact their community in a meaningful way. “They will benefit from training in a variety of programs, and foster lifelong friendships and relationships with fellow volunteers.”

New members will be trained while completing a short-term community service project. Last year, new members conducted a diaper drive that collected more than 55,000 diapers for local children. The projects are designed to help the community, allow members to familiarize themselves with the league and begin networking with fellow volunteers.

"We are looking forward to welcoming a new group of women again this fall," JLCW President Meridith Alin said. "We are a diverse membership ranging from working professionals to stay-at-home moms all looking for the unique combination of giving back to our local community and developing friendship along the way all offered through the JLCW."

Women interested in attending the informational coffees are asked to RSVP by Tuesday, September 20 to jlcw@verizon.net or by phone to (914) 723-6130.
