EASTCHESTER, N.Y. Its been a staple of dining in Eastchester since 1981, and this week, Eastchester Fish is one of dozens of restaurants throughout Westchester participating in Hudson Valley Restaurant Week.
Two Eastchester restaurants are participating in Restaurant Week Eastchester Fish, an old favorite, and Polpettina, a new favorite.
Monica Lavin, owner of Eastchester Fish for the past six years, said this is the second year her restaurant has participated in the event, in which restaurants offer three-course dinners priced at $29.95, and three-course lunches at $20.95. The event ends Saturday, March 31.
At Eastchester Fish, Lavin said she carefully selected some customer favorites from the regular menu for Restaurant Week, such as appetizer choices that include blue-point oysters or mussels, and entrees such as Parmesan-encrusted cod, risotto and striped bass.
"We are all about fish, so thats what we decided to put on the menu, Lavin said. We put some of the most popular items on the menu, favorites for our regulars and a good way for new customers to get to know us.
Mike Abruzese opened Polpettina in March 2011, and it has been a busy year.
We decided to participate in Restaurant Week because it is a good way to support both the Eastchester community and the restaurant community, Abruzese said.
Some of the choices made on the special Restaurant Week menu from Polpettinas are Montauk fluke with broccoli rabe and capers, and orecchiette, a mini oval pasta with spinach sausage and fresh ricotta.
Olde Stone Mill in Tuckahoe is also participating in Restaurant Week.
"I think Restaurant Week is great for our regular customers and new customers to come out and try us," Abruzese said.
