Each year, Westchester Magazine polls its editors and readers to determine which are the top spots in the county. This year, they chronicled the best in everything from food and shopping to health, beauty and local heroes.

In Eastchester, Burrata Wood Fire Pizza was voted to have the top pizza specials in the area. Each week, there are new specialty pies featuring seasonal ingredients that are only available for a short time. Among the most popular choice is the prosciutto and fig pizza that is topped with smoked mozzarella and arugula.

Another Eastchester pizzeria, Polpettina Home Style, was also written up by the magazine’s editors for their crispy eggplant chips, which were voted the best food to nibble on. The eggplant chips are an immensely popular, healthier version of the potato chip. The chef lightly dredges thin slices of eggplant before flash-frying them and sprinkling them with sea salt and honey.

Bronxville’s Park 143 Bistro was celebrated for its $65 multi-course monthly wine dinners, which feature local ingredients that are artfully prepared by Executive Chef Jason Homberg. During wine dinners, participants are presented with a fine dining dish and carefully chosen accompanying wine.

Topps Wine and Liquor was one of four new businesses to be dubbed “welcome additions to the neighborhood.” The editors cited the live piano music that plays and Friday tastings as two reasons Topps has raised the bar since being refurbished by the owners of Topps Bakery, two doors down.
