Scarsdale Music School Master Class Series Features Pianist Meng-Chieh Liu

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Hoff-Barthelson Music School’s Master Class Series continues with pianist Meng-Chieh Liu in Sscarsdale on Sunday, Feb.28.

Pianist Meng-Chieh Liu, who at age 21, substituted for André Watts at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia on three hours’ notice, will be teaching a master class at Hoff-Barthelson Music School.

Liu will coach Hoff-Barthelson Music School piano students in the third of nine master classes to be given during the 2015-16 season. 

Liu has been a member of the Curtis Institute of Music faculty since 1993 and is on the faculties of Roosevelt University and the New England Conservatory. 

Liu made headlines when, at age 21, he substituted for André Watts at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia on three hours’ notice. He has performed with orchestras under conductors Christoph Eschenbach, Gustavo Dudamel and Alan Gilbert, among others. 

The public is invited to attend and observe the master class at 2 p.m. for free. 

The Hoff-Barthelson Music School is at 25 School Lane, Scarsdale.
