Arrest Made In Murder Of Maryland Mom Found With Gunshot Wound

An arrest has been made in the murder of a 29-year-old Maryland mom whose body was discovered with a gunshot wound last weekend in Landover, authorities said.

Marcus Mitchell, 31, of Landover, was charged with first and second-degree murder in the shooting death of 29-year-old Remi Howell, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.

Howell was found in a wooded area outside of a building in the 7900 block of Oxman Road during a welfare check around 1:40 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mitchell and Howell had previously been in a relationship, police said. However, the motive is still unknown, according to police.

Mitchell was being held in the custody of the Department of Corrections, with bail denied.
