She will discuss how landscape is utilized artistically, explore approaches in technique and provide an introductory, historical overview of the artist.
In the discussion on May 7, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., she will talk about the works in the collection at Bronxville Library as they reveal currents of Romanticism and Impressionism and look at the theme of the landscape and formal issues, such as color and composition. Artists discussed include Bruce Crane, Ernest Lawson, and Mary Fairchild Low.
On Thursday, May 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., topics will include a focus on the works that use the figure in compositions of landscape, and the expressive implications. She will look at how the composition constructs a specific view that relates to the audience in a variety of ways. Artists discussed include Winslow Homer and Childe Hassam.
Danko, a former Bronxville resident, is a working artist and award-winning educator who has taught at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and The Washington Studio School. Her work has been exhibited in more than thirty shows on the East Coast.
