Representatives from the Eastchester Irish American Social Club gave a presentation on the parade Monday to the Bronxville Board of Trustees.

An enthusiastic John Collins, club vice president, told the board an Irish pride parade – this year's takes place Sunday, March 10, at 3:30 p.m. – is the perfect antidote for snow.

"I love coming here to speak before the board to update everyone on the parade," said Collins. "With saying that, we've been putting in a lot of effort to make it the best possible. It's great to be Irish, and there's no better time of the year than this. I want to wish everyone a happy St. Patrick's Day and I really do hope to see everyone there in a few weeks."

The parade will feature 10 marching bands and seven pipe bands. It will also feature old cars, activity military, police departments, local schools and various other community organizations. It will begin in the Immaculate Conception Church parking lot and head North on Route 22 to Lake Isle.

The club has picked David Flannery to be the grand marshal, club Publicity Co-Chair Stephen Huvane said.

"Flannery was born in Tipperary, Ireland, and immigrated to the United States in 1985," said Huvane. "He's been a member of our club since 2001, and is also an assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop 353 in Eastchester. He’s a great member of the community, and as a businessman has continually given back. Along with his wife, David is one of the many reasons that our parade is so successful.”
