Concert, Carnival, Street Dance Highlight Westchester Weekend Events

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Support a good cause, get your groove on and enjoy delicious carnival food in Westchester this weekend.

Yonkers Eighth Annual Free Summer Concert Series presents Butch Barbella & The Streets of the Bronx on Friday, Aug. 8, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Enjoy blues and jazz music at the Waterfront Amphitheater at this show, which will also be a special salute to veterans. Free. 71 Water Grant St. 

South Salem Firemen's Carnival on Thursday Aug. 7 and Friday, Aug. 8, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday Aug. 9, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

This carnival will feature bracelets and tickets for rides, as well as games, raffles, T-shirts and more. A food booth will be open for dinner every night.  Raffle tickets may be purchased at a booth on the carnival grounds. Three prizes will be drawn at closing time on Saturday, Aug. 9. The first prize will be $1,500; second prize, $1,000 and third prize, $500. 

Mount Vernon's Third Annual Street Dance on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Celebrate Jamaica's 52nd Anniversary at this event brought to you as part of the City's Summer Breeze Concert Series in association with Dazzle's Restaurant. This popular concert brings out thousands in celebration of Jamaican Independence. There will be a lineup of musical acts headlined by Sean Kingston, fun for the family, food and vendors. 4th Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets. 

Eighth Annual Lemonade for Leukemia in Port Chester on Saturday, Aug. 9, from noon to 4 p.m.

Established in honor of Katie Smercak, who survived leukemia at age five and is now nine years cancer free, Lemonade for Leukemia is a benefit to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Enjoy crafts, food, raffles and fun in the name of a good cause. Free. 38 Hobart Ave.
