BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- The Bronxville Public Library held a reception for the start of its “Temari: Expression Through Color and Memory” exhibit on Thursday.

Anna Upton led a group of students through a 10-week workshop, teaching them the centuries-old Japanese art form of temari – a blend of yarn, thread and recycled materials. The finished product is a multicolored orb, and each student was assigned to complete two or three over the course of 10 weeks.

Each orb gets marked with paper and embroidered with cotton, and features patterns with striking design.

The temari will be on display at the library's Little Gallery until Sunday, May 3.
