The market, which premieres Sunday, June 4 at 344 White Plains Road, is all about bringing residents a delicious assortment of local produce, artisan breads, grass-fed meats, eggs and more.

It is run by Country Markets.

Expect to find vendors  -- 20 in all -- with impressive resumes, said Samantha Friedman, the market's founder and daughter of Country Markets Owner Joe Friedman. Bread vendor Bien Cuit, for example, was voted “One of the 10 Best Baguettes In America” by Bon Appétit Magazine. Picklelicious won the Reader’s Choice prize for “Best Pickles, Olives and Hummus” in a 2016 contest held by Bergen Health & Life Magazine. And Irvington's Red Barn Bakery, offering vegan and gluten-free treats, has been heralded in The New York Times, Martha Stewart Magazine and on the Martha Stewart Show.

Other local vendors include J'Adore Baking (French Pastries from Garrison), Found Herbal (Skincare products from Chappaqua ), and Sololi (sustainably-sourced crafts made in White Plains).

"The goal of the market is to strengthen Eastchester’s access to local, healthy foods and to connect people in the community to resources that can improve the quality of life," said Friedman.

She hopes the new market will not only serve as a hub for locally grown and seasonal goods but will be a catalyst for deeper education about where and how food is produced.

The market can be found in the rear parking lot of at Country Markets Supermarket every Sunday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through October 15.

Singer/Guitarist Dan Stafford, a Westchester native, will perform at the grand opening from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
