PWR [+] Barre, the brainchild of Eastchester resident Sonia Kozak and lifelong fitness entrepreneur Lisa Avellino celebrated the grand opening of their gym over the weekend at 80 Maple St., with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Eastchester-Tuckahoe Chamber of Commerce.
According to the owners, “PWR [+] Barre offers a fun 60-minute high-intensity barre class like know other. You will surely get your heart rate up and your body dripping in sweat. A cardio, body sculpting, barre class that incorporates ballet dance type movement and Pilates based core exercises with the use of light weights, with high repetitions, resistant bands, Pilates ring, a Pilates ball and a gliding board.”
Kozak, a professional group exercise instructor has been a Pilate’s teacher and personal trainer for more than two decades. She has earned certificates and licenses from some of the most prestigious fitness organizations and medical institutions around the globe.
Avellino, has been a Certified Master Trainer for more than 25 years herself. She is versed in fitness and nutrition, including metabolic obesity, yoga and slow movement therapy. She’s been featured nationally on some of the nation’s largest media outlets.
“Core strength is something that many people need,” Kozak said. “A barre based regiment is the perfect tool for establishing health based goals and providing a solid foundation that is essential for anyone looking to gain overall body strength, increased flexibility, increase movement, improve posture, bone density and health vitals.”
At their grand opening celebration, Kozak gave a small taste of what patrons can expect from PWR [+] Barre, providing demonstrations of various exercise routines that will be provided at the gym. With the doors officially opened, Kozak and Avellino have begun hosting a variety of classes that have proven popular early on.
Kozak added that at PWR [+] Barre, she and her staff of licensed, certified trainers will help participants of all experience levels reach their own personal bests.
“At PWR [+] Barre, we help our clients take their fitness from where they are now to new personally undiscovered levels,” she said. “We help define their health objectives and implement unique routines to help them achieve those objectives. We strive to bring the experience of a boutique health club, combined with aspects of hardcore boot camp to all of our clients.”
