EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Lyte Body Fitness, the low-impact training studio that emphasizes working out without the weights, has expanded its core classes to include yoga.
Lyte Body Fitness will now feature Vinyasa flow yoga, which is geared towards all fitness and experience levels. Yoga classes are something that co-owners Lily Martin and Roger Petho have been eager to include since opening their doors a few months ago.
Future plans for the studio include Pilates, and other fitness classes, which will be incorporated over the coming months. Petho said that the yoga classes will follow the studio’s mantra of improving mental, emotional and physical health.
According to Petho, the classes will be offered in a recently renovated space, which will enable students to achieve a “connectedness between their minds and body.” Classes will be offered on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays.
“One of the great benefits of yoga is that it not only helps increase endurance, strength and flexibility, it also relieves stress and de-clutters the mind.”
The 2,000-square-foot studio features separate rooms that allow for a more or less strenuous workout. One room features a bright window and earthy tones on the wall, a station fit for yoga and peaceful exercise. The second is equipped with a massage table and the third is adorned with mirrors and what few pieces of equipment Lyte Body features.
Lily Martin, who holds a master’s degree in exercise science, said she’s attempting to create a new environment that can be benefit mental and physical health. She opened her first studio, Life Force Fitness, in Tuckahoe in 2010.
“We’re trying to create a new paradigm in fitness. One where you can enjoy movement and exercise while not dreading having to go,” she said. “Life is hard, why exhaust yourself. We find new ways to bring out the life force and energy of people.”
