Strategic Research Model offers online research tools that are easy to use and understand to help investors make informed decisions about their money. By simplifying the system and tools, SRM strives to connect with those investors on a more individual level.

The research firm uses a 20-step algorithm that Mottura has been perfecting for more than five years. The Stock Scoring System is a web-based interface that allows users to search for stocks that may be undervalued. Once the algorithm was completed, it was another eight months before SRM went live.

“Most firms design their research platforms for professional use. I have been using my own investment research model that I’ve been refining over the years. That model eventually became our Stock Scoring System,” Mottura said. “The algorithm runs behind the scenes and mines market data to create ratings and a final score.”

The Eastchester resident noted his system is defined by its simplicity, and can be as useful a tool for amateur and expert investors alike. Additionally, unlike other models, the Stock Scoring System does not predict price targets or movements, and instead determines a score based on percentages to find undervalued companies.

“We hope to aid investors that need to analyze their current portfolio or research new companies. Also, financial advisors and research companies could leverage our technology,“ Mottura said. “I firmly believe some investors have a tendency to stay away from research, because not only are some of the tools complex, but because of the results they produce.”

By simplifying his product and keeping the research tools priced equitably ($10 each month after 30 free days), Mottura believes he will attract both rookie and veteran investors. The system is capable of automatically e-mailing stock scores and updates daily or weekly.

Mottura also recently designed ScoreChart, which can compare a company against others in its sector and industry.

“I have been in the financial industry for a long time, and always had a passion for research, but I never understood why research firms could not connect with the individual investor,” Mottura said. “SRM is very user friendly and affordable, which is quite rare in this field.”
