Cellist Michael Finckel Performs at Hoff-Barthelson Music School's Recital

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Cellist Michael Finckel will be the featured artist at Hoff-Barthelson Music School’s HB Artist Recital Series on Friday, Feb. 3, at the Greenville Community Church in Scarsdale.

Joining Finckel will be fellow HBMS faculty members Gary Kosloski, violin, and Gerald Robbins, piano.

The program will include performances of Robert Schumann’s Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 110 and Antonín Dvořák’s Piano Trio No. 3 in F minor, Op. 65. The program is subject to change.

Admission to the recital is $18, $15 for seniors (65-plus) and free of charge to HBMS students and students 18 years of age and younger.

 Finckel enjoys a wide-ranging career as cellist, conductor, teacher and composer. A founding member of the Trio of the Americas and the Cabrini Quartet, he performs as soloist and chamber musician throughout the U.S. and with members of his family in the renowned Finckel Cello Quartet.

His interest in contemporary music has involved him in performances with New York’s leading new music ensembles, including Speculum Musicae, Ensemble Sospeso, Columbia Symphonietta, the Group for Contemporary Music, Steve Reich and Musicians, and the American Composers Orchestra, as well as performances with members of the New York Philharmonic, under the direction of Pierre Boulez and Leonard Bernstein.

Hoff-Barthelson Music School’s teaching faculty includes many preeminent performers who hold chairs in prominent New York orchestras, are members of world-class chamber ensembles, and are in international demand as solo artists, according to a release from HBMS.

The program will begin at 8 p.m.
